That’s basically the reason he gave for attending a WNBA preseason game back in May. Turns out, he loves one of the players involved in that game as well, Minnesota Lynx guard Monica Wright. So much so that the two are now engaged to be married. Wright confirmed the engagement following the Lynx’s 91-59 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday night. Although they’ve been known to be friends since meeting as McDonalds’ High School All-Americans in 2006, the fact that Durant and Wright are romantically involved seems to have gone unnoticed by the media. In fact, in May, a Fox Sports North article about the longtime friendship between them made no mention of a romance.

Durant and Wright, both 24, have known each other since high school, when both were standout basketball players in the Washington, D.C., area. While the friendship between Durant and Wright has widely been covered most recently by Fox Sports North in May the media has remained largely unaware of the romance thats been brewing between the professional athletes.
